Students at New Dimensions Charter School
Kathryn began teaching art in Fall, 2014. Since then, she has led workshops, mentored students in her studio in Morganton, and taught summer classes through the Burke Arts Council. At New Dimensions Charter School, Ervin teaches k-8 using Core Knowledge strategies. This is spiral learning system to extend curricular knowledge across all grade levels, as well as incorporate a richer understanding of topics being discussed in other classes. They do collaborative projects, have shows in the community, enter competitions, bring in visiting artists, and using 9 different art mediums within the school year. Another primary objective is to learn about art stewardship through exhibiting and selling their own art.
